Frequently Asked Questions

Your project could benefit from our services if you identify with any of the below situations:
- You know your home needs an upgrade; but you don’t know where to start
- You know what look you want, but you don’t know how to bring it to life
- You have never renovated before
- You have renovated, but want to make the process more streamlined
- You don’t have time to research design ideas, or you don’t have time time to manage trades
- You want to add value to your home
- You want to save money on your renovation
Do you do small projects too?
Do you offer free consultations?
We usually have a phone chat to understand your needs, and it does vary depending on the project, however we generally charge $120 for the intial consutlation with Maxine.
During this time, we will discuss the ideas you have, and Maxine will offer her own ideas as the come to mind.
Following the initial constulation, Maxine will provide a detailed breakdown of costs for your project; and you’ll move forward from there.
Are you different to an interior stylist?
An interior designer differs from an interior stylist. This difference is the training that they have undertaken.
Some interior stylists call themselves interior designers, so it’s important to check qualifications before starting a project.
Maxine is a university educated Interior Designer. That means she has complete comprehensive study not only in the creative process of interior design, but is also able to use specialist design software (to complete floorplans, 3D views, elevations and more).
Her education also means the focus isn’t simply on choosing window furnishings, and other finishes (although that is still important). She is highly trained to create layouts and floorplans which improve the flow of a home and will add value when it comes to sale time.
Can't my builder do what you do?
Builders have often filled the gap between managing trades and client communication as they’re usually the contractors across all elements of a renovation project. Whilst that works well for clients with a clear vision (and when working with builders with a knack for design), all of the design decisions still fall back on you as the client.
Trusting a builder to give interior design advice is like asking a printer to design a promotional flyer. They might be brilliant at bringing the design to life, but creative and conceptual thinking just isn’t what they’re trained in.
Using an interior designer from the start of your project means you have a clear vision for your home renovation; and having that same designer project manage, means they are your ears, eyes (and even brain) so you only need to get involved when and if you choose to.
